Classroom Connections is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving learning opportunities, experiences and outcomes for Canadian youth. Since 1997, we have created award-winning educational programming for schools, parents and community groups across the country. The materials are innovative in content and pedagogy, designed to engage and motivate youth by providing non-traditional learning opportunities that are authentic and meaningful. Over 80% of schools in Canada receive our resources and over 95% of users would recommend our programs to others.
For the past 4 years Classroom Connections has been working on Change Learning, a ground breaking initiative to synthesize current knowledge on brain development and learning for the purposes of pilot testing new approaches. Recognizing the increased risks and barriers facing Aboriginal youth, our first set of programs have been in partnership with First Nations communities. Our Change it Up! pilot projects combine high impact, strength-based programming with intense experiential learning in community development and entrepreneurship. Our Discovering Strengths website allows Aboriginal communities across Canada to access and pilot test strength-based approaches and the site provides a forum for sharing experiences and new learning.
